In april i had the lovely job of photographing Catherine Fulvio's new cookbook due out this Autumn. The book was shot in Catherine cookery school, Ballyknocken House.
It makes such a difference when you have a strong team to work along side. All the ladieeez at Ballyknocken were amazing and the wonderful Stylist Orla Neligan and assistant Carly Horan made this shoot such a brilliant experience. I can personally vouch for the yummyness of all the food. I can't wait to post some of the food photo's, in the meantime here's the cover!

One of the best things about my job is the fact i get to meet such a variety of people. Last month for The Gloss Magazine i shoot three very different but equally inspiring ladies.

Nikki Evans won the Woman Mean Business Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010. She devised and launched PerfectCard – a gift debit card, in 2007. She now employs 60 people at peak season and recorded a turnover of €18m last year, and she has 2 children under 3! Now that's impressive!

War has broken out with my three year old over vegetables. So today i was looking for soups in which to cunningly hide them when i came across these great recipies from Garden Heaven magazine. I shot these with the lovely Brian O'Donnell, head chef at award winning hotel and restaurant, Danny Minnies in Annagry, Co Donegal in 2005. Click on the images to enlarge the photo.

I often make smaller amounts of this soup with just a chicken thigh on the bone and reduce the amount of liquid and soup mix.

This soup is like a meal in itself.

On such a dreary January night it warms my toes to look back a lovely wedding I photographed in Ravello last Summer. I've never been anywhere with so many steps! Though it did come in handy to work off all the pasta and Ice cream i ate while i was there!

Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2010

I got some great news a few days ago. Two cookbooks i worked on this year have been nominated for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2010 Here is the offical press release from Gill & Macmillan. the publishers. Well done ladies,Wahoo!

Multiple wins for Irish Chefs at The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards

Catherine Fulvio’s first cookbook has won awards for Best Italian Cuisine Cookbook and Best Television Celebrity Cookbook at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, while Domini Kemp’s Itsa Cookbook won the Best Corporate Cookbook Award.

They now go on to represent Ireland when the judges deliberate at the best in the world stage of the competition.

Results will be announced at a glamorous awards event on March 3, 2011 on the first day of the Paris Cookbook Fair.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. Every year, they honour the best food and wine books. The objective of the award is to help readers find the best out of the 26,000 food and wine books produced every year. This year 154 countries participated in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Catherine’s Italian Kitchen and Itsa Cookbook are published by Gill & Macmillan.

Both books are priced at €19.99 and are available in bookshops nationwide.

Its all about food at the moment!I just saw the new Catherine Fulvio Cookbook which looks really lovely and it has my photo on the cover! I had a great day in Ballyknocken house earlier this year with Catherine and her lovely family taking photo's for the cover.Catherine was a tropper! it was cold and windy but she braved it out. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes.
I'm also really excited about Domini Kemp's cook book with is coming out in October. I shot all the photos for the book and i'm so thrilled with it. My copy of the cook is winging its way towards me as i write this. Photo's to follow soon...

I took a trip up to Monaghan last Friday to check out the gorgeous Castle Leslie. This was my first time there and it is such a stunning venue. This is the latest Maternity & Infant magazine. Its the January/February issue, and we racked our brains trying to come up with a way to create a winter wonderland. It lashed rain on the day and In the end we just kept it simple, little did we know when we shot it in November that the country would be snowed in after Christmas!

Beautiful Kerry Wedding

September has been a month of weddings. I had the pleasure of shooting 2 beautiful weddings, one in Waterford castle and the other in the Mount Falcon hotel this month (more on them later).I've been dying to post some photo's of the beautiful wedding of my lovely friend Orla in Kerry. I was a guest and not officially on duty but i did have my camera with me and took some shots. The location, the weather, the couple, the church, the guests, the food (oh my god the food!) the marquee, the little details and touch's were all so amazing and so very Orla & Alan! Neil and Ailbhe tied the knot at the beginning of April and it was such a pleasure to photograph. Here are just a few of the happy couple. Finally after months of threatening to start a blog here i am. I just saw the new issue of Maternity & infant magazine in the shops today and thought it would be nice way to kick things off. I shoot the cover for this issue and also a really fun shoot inside with some incredibly cute kids. All credit to Siobhan and Tara from the magazine who came up with the great idea of shooting it in front of the U2 graffiti wall at windmill lane.
